Join us on April 15, 2025, from 9am to 10 am, for a thought-provoking coffee and chat session as part of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao's celebration of Made in Italy Day

This event will feature Ms. Laura Cavanna, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at Hang Seng University, who will delve into the profound influence of Italo Calvino's Le città invisibili (Invisible Cities) on art and design.  

Through this engaging discussion, Ms. Cavanna will explore how Calvino's imaginative portrayal of cities resonates with themes of memory and perception that bridge Italian and Hong Kong cultures. She will highlight cross-cultural innovation by showcasing student projects inspired by Calvino's work, demonstrating how his ideas foster global dialogue and creativity.  

The talk will also emphasize the integration of technology in artistic expression, with examples of how students use tools like digital art and augmented reality to reimagine Calvino's visionary cities. This session promises to illustrate how Calvino's literary masterpiece inspires not only artistic endeavors but also a deeper understanding of our shared human experience.
