Maffeis Engineering is an multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm which was founded in 2000 by renowned design engineer Massimo Maffeis. With headquarters in Italy, the company has steadily grown to a dedicated team of 300 professional engineers, architects and software designers based in offices across the globe including London, Stuttgart, Zurich, Paris, Sydney, Toronto, New York, Hong Kong, Oslo, Johannesburg and Dubai.
Maffeis specialise in structural design of permanent and temporary works, civil engineering, construction engineering, façade design, geotechnical works, mechanical systems for moving structures. Maffeis work closely with stakeholders in delivering sustainable design solutions within time to the allocated budget.
These services are applied across a variety of sectors including long span structures, high-rise towers and public assembly facilities with specialist capabilities also in tensile structures, cable solutions, timber and movable structures. The main application is on major works such as stadia including with moving roofs, stations, airports, towers, civil buildings, bridges and complex structures.

Thanks to an internal team dedicated to the development of computational software and scripting techniques, an innovative and powerful engineering tool was developed, enabling simultaneous architectural modelling and engineering analysis. This enables the optimisation of a fully integrated interactive design process. This integrative approach enables working alongside external professionals in other disciplines including Architects and MEP designers thereby assisting in forging long term cohesive relationships.
Maffeis team is capable to support the General Contractors through the design phases, tender review, design optimization, detailed and connection design, construction engineering and site supervision. Maffeis has experienced engineers across all offices that have worked in complex construction projects worldwide over the last 20 years. A deep understanding has been gained of the challenges presented by the ever more demanding requirements in terms of iconic/complex design engineering, materials, fabrication, equipment, construction, installation methods, temporary works, project management and monitoring systems ensuring safety throughout the construction phase.
Verifying the availability of materials, knowledge of the skillset in local markets, studying suitable construction and installation methodologies and providing safe access for inspection and maintenance are all part of the standard service Maffeis provides.
Highly regarded in implementing new technologies, additional tools have been implemented within Maffeis for the parametric modelling that are valuable when it is required to run quick iterative loops to review the main members or connection design. Maffeis’ experience also extends to the production of 3D models for the automatic production of shop drawings. Full BIM capabilities are also included in the services thanks to the presence of BIM designers that are involved in every project.
