Castello di Buttrio was born in the early 1990s, when Marco Felluga purchased these lands. Now it is the story of his daughter Alessandra who began a careful restoration: a painstaking task regarding a place of ancient memory. Alessandra Felluga has always had a clear idea: to produce wines that reflect the territory and the history from which they come from. The goal is to explore and express Colli Orientali of Friuli. Ancient vineyards, the real privilege and heritage of this winery, are flanked by new plants, to produce indigenous varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Refosco and Pignolo; and international varieties such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Merlot in the 26 hectares of vineyards (38 total of the property) that surround Castello di Buttrio, now totally renovated. The careful care of the vineyards, the deep respect for nature and the desire to enhance the characteristics of the varieties and the territory are the basis of our philosophy. The wines we produce are direct, with purity of fruit and defined character, starting from the Monblanc (a blend of local grapes) to the more refined and complex Riserve: Uve Carate Bianco Riserva, Uve Carate Rosso Riserva and Ettaro Sauvignon Riserva.
